JioPhone Next, which has been making headlines in the name of the world’s cheapest Android smartphone, has been launched on 4th November 2021 just before the Diwali. It’s price is ₹6499/- and with this price tag, this is not the cheapest smartphone in the world at all. So, let us find if it is worth the price tag.

Specification:
JioPhone Next runs on Pragati OS based on Android powered by a quad-core Qualcomm QM215 processor with GPU – Adreno 308 GPU @ 465Mhz. It packs 16GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded via micro SD card (up to 512GB). It comes with dual GSM SIM (Nano SIM cards).
Display:
The phone comes with 5.45-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720X1440 pixel at 60 Hz refresh rate and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is covered with Corning Glass 3 with anti-fingerprint coating.
Camera & Battery:
JioPhone Next packs on the rear packs 13-MP camera with rear auto focus f-1/3”. It has a single front camera setup for selfies, featuring an 8-MP sensor with front auto focus f-1/4”. The phone supports 1080p @30fps video recording for both rear and front camera. Camera features HDR Mode, Night Mode, Portrait Mode, Translate, Timer settings.
The Phone supports ancient Li-Polymer removable battery powered by a 3500mAh.

Connectivity & Sensors:
The Phone include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth v4.10, Micro-USB, 3G, and 4G. Dual SIM support will be available in JioPhone Next, but the Internet will work only from Jio SIM. Actually, the company has used Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) communication in this, due to which one slot is locked for Jio SIM. You will only be able to make calls or messages from the SIM of other networks. That is, without Jio SIM, this smartphone will become like a toy. It has 3.5mm audio jack, OTG support and micro USB interface.
Sensors on the phone include accelerometer (G sensor), ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor.
Some Special Features:
Features like Voice Typing, Glide Typing, Personal Dictionary, One Hand Mode provided in its keyboard. The phone has inbuilt Transcribe App which will help users eliminate the hassle of typing.
The Photo Translate Mode helps users translate photo of a document in their respective language. Users can also listen to the captured text.
Other features like Focus Mode, Digital Well-Being, Parental Lock makes the phone worth buying.
Price & Availability:
The phone is priced at ₹1,999, and you can pay the rest via easy EMI over 18/24 months, and the plans start at ₹300 per month with a processing fee of ₹501. Without any EMI or plans users can also purchase the phone at ₹6499 in full. Check out the plans below.

Availability: The JioPhone Next will be available from 4th November through JioMart Digital’s network of more than 30,000 retail partners with paperless digital financing option, extending to the remotest corners of the country. Verdict: The Phone seems like a old fashioned in terms of display and performance and even its back cover opens and battery can be removed which we used 6-7 years back. All the brands upgraded in terms of Software, Hardware, Display. Even, at this price segment no fingerprint scanner or face lock provided and even the battery capacity is too low.
